With the popularity of mobile phones, Ipad and other electronic products, the myopia rate of children and adolescents continues to rise, which has become a public health problem of universal concern. It is urgent to prevent and control myopia among adolescents scientifically. The latest survey data released by the National Health and Wellness Commission of China shows that the overall myopia rate of children and adolescents in China is 53.6%. Among them, 14.5% are 6-year-old children, 36.0% are primary school students, 71.6% are junior high school students and 81.0% are senior high school students.
Zhang Chunqing, director of Shenyang Health Service and Administrative Law Enforcement Center, said that in order to give full play to the advantages of health system resources and effectively improve the eye health level of children and adolescents. In the past two years, 34 schools and kindergartens have been monitored, and 10191 children and students of all age groups have been investigated. Through statistical analysis and evaluation, the myopia status and influencing factors of students in Shenyang have been fully understood and mastered, which provides a scientific basis for formulating prevention and control measures for myopia in Shenyang.
At the same time, students’ free vision screening, health intervention and diagnosis and treatment services will be carried out. Provide children’s eye care and vision examination services for children aged 0-6 in the city; Taking the "Bright Future" campus vision screening public welfare action in Shenyang as the carrier, the relevant hospitals were organized to actively cooperate with the education department to carry out free vision screening for more than 650,000 students in 573 primary and secondary schools in the city, and to provide personalized and targeted health intervention and diagnosis and treatment services for students with abnormal vision found in the screening.
Carry out supervision and inspection of school health law enforcement. A special rectification campaign was launched for the health supervision and inspection of myopia prevention and control of students with "students’ health and blue shield escort". At present, there are 58 traditional sports schools and 20 experimental schools in the city. Zhao Renjun said that Shenyang will vigorously promote the construction of health promotion schools in the next step. By 2020, the proportion of health promotion schools will reach more than 50%, and it will increase year by year. At the same time, ensure the implementation of environment and equipment standards closely related to visual health and myopia prevention and control. Before the end of 2020, 100% of the standards should be met, and actively provide students with a learning environment that meets the requirements of eye hygiene.
