CCTV News:Wuzhai County, Shanxi Province, which is located in the hilly area of the Loess Plateau in northwest Shanxi Province, has a tradition of planting potatoes, and the local people have increased their income and become rich by introducing agricultural projects and improving planting varieties.
These days, during the potato planting season, the 30,000 mu modern processing potato demonstration base project in Wuzhai County, Shanxi Province is in full swing. By transferring the land of 1683 farmers in two towns, the local government has realized the transformation from small-scale farming to large-scale and specialization.
Su Guoping, Captain of Wuzhai County Project Team:The whole project has three large reservoirs and 80 small reservoirs with 100 cubic meters. The water problem in the whole planting process is solved by diverting water from Nanfeng Reservoir.
It is understood that the climate and soil conditions in Wuzhai County are very suitable for potato growth, and the potato planting area in the county is stable at more than 100,000 mu every year. However, the traditional extensive planting method has problems such as single planting variety, low average yield and low processing conversion rate, which has become a bottleneck restricting the development of the whole industry. The demonstration base under construction can increase the local potato yield from 2000 kg to 4000 kg, and the output value will more than double.
With the gradual progress of the project, 100,000 mu of modern processing potato planting base will be built in the local area during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, and potato production and processing projects will be built to extend the industrial chain, and a modern agricultural industrial system of "enterprise+base+farmers" will be gradually established, which integrates education, multiplication, promotion, planting, processing, marketing and tourism, so that small potatoes can truly incite the big market to become a big industry.
