This week’s excellent film "Wings of Kirin" is adapted from Keigo Higashino’s detective novel of the same name, which is called the highest masterpiece of "Kaga Kyouichirou" series of mystery novels by the original author.
Kaga Kyouichirou
Subvert the traditional detective image
Wings of Kirin is the ninth and final work of Kaga Kyouichirou series of mystery novels. Keigo Higashino, the author, used more ink on the image and gold content of Kaga Kyouichirou.
Have the appearance of an idol star, but have no idol burden; Tall and strong, but amiable and humble, Kaga Kyouichirou was called "the least police officer" by the audience. Under the role of Hiroshi Abe, one of the most recognized actors in Japan, he subverted the detective image on the screen.
It is hard for the audience to imagine how much this very human detective will put himself in the suspect’s shoes after learning the truth. For example, in the movie Sleeping Forest, he would wait for the suspect to jump one last dance before arresting her, and promised to try his best to defend her.

Or in the movie "Red Finger", he had guessed the real murderer, but he still set up a game step by step to let the suspect tell the truth himself, which protected the integrity of a family to the greatest extent.

In the movie Wings of Kirin, he deliberately kept his distance from his father, but spared no effort to save the father-son relationship of the victim.

In the book, Kaga said, "It is not enough for criminal police to solve the case. When and how to solve the case are the most important."
In the role of Kaga Kyouichirou, besides subverting the audience’s cognition with his image and people’s design, his screen partners are also well-known. Four famous Japanese actresses in the entertainment industry, Meisa Kuroki, Aragaki Yui and others, all played heroines in the series of "Detective Kaga" films, and were dubbed "Kaga Girls" by the audience. Such a luxurious lineup is rare in the same kind of detective films.
The growth experience of the original author Keigo Higashino.
Keigo Higashino is one of the best-selling mystery novelists in Japan. Up to now, he has published more than 90 mystery novels, becoming a rare "triple crown king" in the history of japanese mystery (Edogawa Random Step Award, Japan Association of Mystery Writers Award, Naoki Award).
In contrast to the honor he won, Keigo Higashino actually hated reading in his childhood. Later, he accidentally read an award-winning mystery novel before he started writing.
In 1985, he won the highest honor Edogawa Random Step Award in the 31st japanese mystery for his youth mystery novel After School. At that time, he was only 27 years old, but unexpectedly, he soon reached his low point. Although he won the prize, the sales of books were cold. In order to increase sales, he even went to the bookstore to buy his own new books.
From the first Kaga Kyouichirou series "Graduation" to the ninth finale "Wings of Kirin", the changes of Kaga’s life trajectory and psychological state are actually related to Keigo Higashino’s life experience. He once lived in a house of about 10 square meters in Tokyo for quite a long time. It is because of Keigo Higashino’s interest and sense of contrast that Kaga Kyouichirou’s unique role is created.
From novels to movies
Keigo Higashino, known as a professional film adaptation household.
